U.Va.’s First African-American Undergraduate Leads Engineering School Panel on Diversity

The supreme court’s ruling in Brown vs. the Board of Education came down in 1955 and soon after Robert Bland began his studies at the University of Virginia. He would then become the first African American to earned a degree from U.Va’s School of Engineering and Applied Science.
